A BLACK FRIDAY for EUROPE....

...the Brits have voted to move out of the "European House", the EU.

 Devastating

I'm almost in tears.

In Europe, the vote is already being called an earthquake in the politics,
and economies, of Britain and the continent.
Political unionists fear the end of the "European project",
another status qou.

No country has ever left the EU, but Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders
 immediately called for a referendum,
and France's National Front leader Marine Le Pen,
who will run for president next year, hailed the result.

So, what comes next?

Nexit (Netherlands)?  Frexit (Fance)?  Poxit (Poland)?
Öxit (Österreich/Austria)?  or Huxit (Hungary)? .....?

It is frightening.

QUO  VADIS  Europe ?

Dear European friends, wherever you live,
please keep in mind:
only together we are strong.

Only together can we build up a sense of a joint nationhood.

Don't let the right-wing populists win.
Their policies and rethoric are considered a provocation to our democratic culture.

I'll keep up hope for a peaceful cohabitation in an united Europe.

  1. My love, there are always changes. In history, as you well know, change is always faulted & fought. We, in America, see so much which we don't like, like career politicians who get rich, they don't represent any of us, they represent personal enrichment. I really don't know what it means for the UK to leave the EU, however, I do know the Brits are one sturdy bunch, as we are, and that all will be well in time. All of us are voting for Donald, while the unemplopyed, takers of welfare, etc. will all vote for Clinton. Let's just hope we win in November as every single one of those congressional people need to go home so we can have people who actually represent the "people" can steer a new course. Obama has been horrible for our country, so will Hillary be awful. The democratic party here is very very left, and Obama has shown us where his true loyalties lie. sending love, darling one....

    1. Sorry, disagree completely. Don't want to start a war, but feel I must speak up for America. I live in France now, but follow US politics closely and cannot imagine how we can have hit the point where the Republicans are putting forward a cartoon character as their presidential candidate.

    2. So you think Donald Trump represents "the people"? I really don't understand how anyone can vote for a crook, a man whose grasp of politics is kindergarten level at best. The man is a 24-carat fraud, only out for himself (and that hasn't changed just because he's now president. He is now presiding over the terminal decline of a once great country.

  2. I was shocked at the vote results and wonder what the future will hold. Everywhere, it seems, people are fed up with the status quo, but don't think clearly about what these radical moves might mean for the younger generation. Prayers for peace and a united Europe.

  3. As in the US, so goes Europe. The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. I find that most of the Drumpf followers are poor, blue color workers and tired of the rich and politicos, yet who do they choose, a billionaire that is nuts and wouldn't give them the time of day.

  4. I too was disturbed by the Brexit, as I don't believe most of those who voted for it understood the implications. I believe Britain will suffer economically, and those who voted for it will see their situation become more dire. I feel especially sorry for the English people who are now living here and working here, who will now have to get the same kind of visas I had to as an American when I came here. I was required to prove a level of income and assets that would assure that I was not a burden on the French system. That isn't always easy to do, and if you are dependent on working here for your income, and no longer have the right to work as an EU citizen, what happens next?

    1. That was my concern, that had it all been thought out with the implications and all eventualities taken into consideration. Sounds like they weren't, but I hope they were.
